Why?
The Government’s Cyber Security Strategy highlights the need for the UK as a whole to be better prepared to defend against cyber-based attacks. Although technology plays an important part in defending against cyber risks it’s not the complete story.
Managing risk is part of running an organisation; cyber risks are just another consideration in the business decisions you make. In our experience most organisations are not fully aware of what could happen to their business as a result of an attack so strategic planning is carried out without a significant piece of the jigsaw. The answer to identifying your information risks is to have an Information Risk Management approach. For the Public Sector, the Security Policy Framework spells out what you need to have in place to have an Information Risk Management System but it doesn’t tell you how.
What?
If you are a public sector body who has had little or no exposure to the SPF but is now faced with conformance, perhaps as a result of the roll out of the PSN, we may be able to help. This can be an overview of the SPF for your team, all the way up to providing you with a security architecture that is SPF compliant but more importantly tailored for your business context.

How?
Ascentor prides its self on its ability to implement Security Architectures in support of Information Risk Management. Our four stage Information Risk Management process takes an organisation from no formal controls to a having a highly effective process for managing information risks. You will have some processes already in place so we don’t need to go through each stage. A scoping study will identify where any weaknesses lie and a programme of work can be defined specific to your organisation.
