Why?
The Government’s drive to make efficiency savings has permeated through most areas of the public sector. Central to savings in IT is the replacement of the Government Secure Internet (GSi) with the Public Service Network (PSN) and later GCloud.
The PSN is made up of several different components which allow differing levels of secure connections to government services. Local Authorities, the NHS and Blue Light organisations and even charities that want to access central government information will need to have a PSN connection. Their own ICT estates must be capable of conforming to the new PSN Code of Connection (CoCo) which will have additional controls.
Ascentor’s focus is on delivering efficiencies. Working with us can reduce your security bill.
Ascentor has an in depth understanding of the GSi and PSN. We have the experience, we’ve learned the lessons and we can explain the process in a clear way. We can work with you to develop and implement your PSN migration strategy as efficiently as possible within your business context.
- We were the independent verifier for the first Direct Network Service Provider to achieve the required certification (CAS(T)) for the South Yorks Digital Region.
- Our consultants have previously worked for CESG as senior GSi CoCo assessors.
Our experience can really help those public sector bodies that have not previously had to worry about Information Assurance (IA) and need to connect to the PSN.
What?
If you are concerned about the IA aspects of connecting your organisation to the PSN, Ascentor can help:
- Develop and Review your PSN Migration Plan – review your plans or help you develop your strategy. We provide you with the information you need to make sure your migration goes smoothly and is achieved on time and budget. We provide anything from an overview for the executives right through to helping you write your migration strategy.
- PSN CoCo Compliance. With our extensive experience of PSN and GSi we are ideally placed to help you to de-risk your PSN CoCo compliance project.
- Comply with the SPF using an Information Risk Management approach. The PSN is driving change within local government which may include a requirement to be compliant with the Security Policy Framework (SPF). Ascentor champions Information Risk Management to help public sector organisations comply with the SPF.
With our experience of IA and our strong belief that IA is a business issue not just an IT one, we bring a different holistic perspective. Our focus is in delivering efficient IA – working with us can reduce your security bill.
How?
Although the problems faced by public sector bodies connecting to the PSN are similar, each solution to that problem is invariably very different. Caused primarily by previous legacy decisions, the shape and size of an ICT estate varies between public sector bodies. What is common though is our approach to helping organisations. To ensure Ascentor provides the very best information a full understanding of the business is required:
- Understand the business context
- Understand the current ICT in support of the business
- Understand your PSN Migration strategy
Once this information has been gathered we can tailor the very best possible advice to reduce the risks to your PSN projects.
