Markets

Ascentor offers a unique combination of technical knowledge and consolidated experience combined with the use of well developed and proven methodologies. Our consultants use this to support and advise Government agencies, the MoD and industry prime contractors to secure highly sensitive communication and information systems and protectively marked data throughout the most challenging of technical programmes.

Experience

Ascentor consultants posess combined experience exceeding 100 years in the development, deployment and management of sensitive systems around the world. This experience helps us to understand Threat Agent capabilities used to exploit any potential technical vulnerabilities of Communication and Information Systems (CIS) employed by the MoD, HMG departments and the Police nationally.

Ascentor consultants have an extensive and proven track record developing security policy documentation (SPD) spanning HMG, MoD and Industry working to the requirements of the Defence Manual of Security (JSP440) and Defence Information Assurance Notices (DIAN), the Cabinet Office Manual of Protective Security (MPS), CESG Information Security Standards including associated memoranda and BS7799/ISO27001.

Skills

All Ascentor Information Assurance consultants subscribe to the CESG Listed Advisor Scheme (CLAS), are members of professional organisations including the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and hold high level Government clearances. We are therefore, able to support the MoD and HMG working on sensitive programmes and systems storing and processing data at the highest protective marking.

Risk assessment is an immensely valuable skill; our consultants are well versed in a number of different methodologies and are fully conversant with the requirements of MoD and HMG policy and standards including the Defence Manual of Security (JSP440), Defence Information Assurance Notices (DIAN), HMG Information Security Standards and associated memoranda.

Growth

Ascentor was established in 2004 by the founder directors and has since grown with the addition of a number of consultants with IA and Project Management experience. Ascentor consultants have a proven track record working with sensitive Communication and Information Systems storing and processing protectively marked data at the highest level. Ascentor plans to balance its growth in the MoD and HMG sectors with the recruitment of experienced personnel all of whom will work to the same ethics and standards of the founder directors.

We work closely with our clients throughout the whole security and project lifecycle, helping to identify or clarify Risk Appetite and understand potential risks in order to apply a pragmatic approach to balancing risk against the business need.
