Ascentor nominated as Cyber OSPA finalist 2021

Ascentor selected as finalists in the inaugural Cyber Outstanding Security Performance Awards

Ascentor are delighted that our work for the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), alongside Leonardo, has been selected as a finalist in the inaugural Cyber Outstanding Security Performance Awards, known as the Cyber OSPAs.

The Cyber OSPAs were launched earlier this year to recognise the outstanding contribution organisations, people and technology are making to protect society from all areas of cybercrime globally. Finalists had to compete against a strong international field of entrants from countries including Australia, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, India, Ireland, Malaysia, Romania, USA, UAE and the UK.

ONR’s Cyber Security and Information Assurance (CS&IA) specialism within the Civil Nuclear Security and Safeguards (CNSS) division has been selected in the ‘Outstanding Cyber Security Partnership’ category. Ascentor and Leonardo are recognised for our work to benchmark security arrangements across the sector’s supply chain.

ONR’s partnership with Ascentor and Leonardo leveraged industry expertise, alongside their own regulatory experience to develop a bespoke, risk informed methodology that delivered a cost effective and pragmatic approach for the regulation of the sector’s supply chain.

This methodology proportionately identified relevant expectations from ONR’s regulatory frameworks based upon the dutyholders inherent cyber risk.  Ascentor and Leonardo brought valuable industry expertise and reduced the burden and subsequent costs on its dutyholders.

The finalists now go forward to the next phase of the competition and winners will be revealed at a virtual awards show which will be streamed live on 14th December 2021.
